The Crown owns everything the sand touches

Behind a great sandstone wall lies the Imperium. Its soldiers round up people from beyond the wall and send them to the pits, rough towns dug in beside mines, forests and pastures, each one owing the Crown its tribute. You arrive as a gladiator with nothing. What you become is up to you.

Start in the pit

Wake in the gladiator quarters, train, and fight in the proving ground. Win 100 bouts and you're sent to the Imperium's grand arenas, where a victory earns a favour from the high officials.

Command in your own words

No fiddly controls. Tell your gladiator what to do, say it or type it, and they take it on board. Later, when you own buildings and hire people, you run your workers the same way.

A world that makes itself

Skills, abilities, traits and the items your smiths forge are created as you play, not picked from a list. Only experience gates them: from Novice up to Crown, the highest level of all.

Life in the pit

  • Every resource is mined, cut or herded. Nothing appears from nowhere.
  • Buy land, build square by square, and hire your own workers.
  • A day lasts about ten minutes, and at night the pit goes to bed.
  • Giant sandworms carry people and goods between the pits and the proving ground.
  • Guards patrol. Steal or start a fight and you may end up in jail.
  • The Crown wants its tribute: ore, wood, cattle and gladiators.
